The winners of the People’s Choice Awards 2019

Finalist shortlist revealed. Check out Guardian Jobs for more.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin made his first appearance at the People’s Choice Awards in 1999. The two years before, Gwyneth Paltrow played music producer Ray Charles in a film of the same name and it’s an idea with potential. Google became the show’s main sponsor. Brin now sits on the awards’ executive committee and pays $10,000 a year to sponsor the event.

The show currently is split between a live awards show and a two-hour video retrospective of some of the past best moments. Any major changes for 2021 will have to be approved by the show’s co-founders, Ellen DeGeneres and Ryan Seacrest.

The People’s Choice Awards are voted for by the public, with participants nominated via People.com’s ballot system.
